cracked rear iron at oil pressure sensor! help
Fresh 13bt install into a rx3. Runs great, only a small oil leak to find!
Leak is at the rear iron oil pressure switch. The casting is cracked, a small piece calved off. Only cure I can think of is a remote oil filter and pressure regulator. Plan is to take the oil feed from the cooler to a remote regulator and filter and send it to the oil pedistal to supply the engine. Easiest way to route the oil return from the remote regulator is via a modified oil filler tube(trying to do the mod with the engine in the car). Anyone dealt with this? Any feedback. |
best best to is replace the rear iron, which is at least the first part to come off the engine.
Once cast iron gets cracked, its near impossible to get it to seal again, especially with 60 psi+ of oil pressure |

Once cast iron gets cracked, its near impossible to get it to seal again, especially with 60 psi+ of oil pressure For now I'm going for a jb weld attempt. Modified a concrete anchor to grab good metal and filled it with jb weld. First I removed the oil filer base to get at the oil gallery. I stuffed a length of vacuum hose down the gallery to keep it clear. It came out at the end before the epoxy set. Give it a couple of days before I try a start. I known the plug is in there to stay with the anchor. The test is if it seals in the long run. Fingers crossed☺ |
