"Cop gas" - 85% ethanol fuel
Is it safe to run in an NA 12A? Discuss...
Thanks in advance -Ian |
why would you want to? you will have to tune for it but yes it is possible. better get a wideband and an egt gauge :)

It will eat all your hoses.
And don't let it sit in the tank for very long... |
That's known as E85. No you probably shouldn't run it in a 12A without some changes. A number of vehicles are sold that are "flexible fuel vehicles." That means they can run both regular gasoline or E85. I believe FFVs run some different gaskets/seals, oil and oil filter. Beyond that I don't think there are many differences. Many of the Chrysler vehicles with the 3.3-3.8L (eg. Caravan) are FFVs.

alcohol reacts differently in a rotary for 1, it leans out much faster, and alcohol mite not be compatible at all with the internal seals in the motor, i wouldnt do it personally

at http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda3.htm they have an engine that runs on methanol. If you call them or email them I am sure they will tell you what modifications you should do to run ethanol.
BTW I am sure this goes unsaid but becarefull ethanol is more explosive than most other car fuels. |
