Compression test questions. 1989 FC non turbo

So the car was sitting for a long time and I'm trying to see if the motor will run. I want to do a compression test and had some questions.

1) Is it absolutely necessary to remove the Schrader valve or can I just keep the release depressed? I'm not even getting bounces above 60 psi on the first rotor.

2) Should every blast of air coming from the lower plug holes contain oil? I put my hand down there to "feel" if the bursts were constant and came back up coated in oil.

Thanks for any help guys!!

It should not have oil in the air when you compression test it unless you soaked the engine with some internally to prevent it from seizing up.That oil can make a bad engine actilly look better as it is masking the Actual compression numbers (remember that you use oil to BUILD compression if the engine is Flooded.)
another thing that comes to mind: did you remove the EGI Fuse to do the test?If not then the Engine will still get fuel and it will spray out of the spark plug holes as a fine mist when you roll it over. This is not very SAFE to do.

Yes removed the fuse and also no fuel pump or tank installed so it was straight oil. I did not do anything else to the motor as far as oil or prep just added the battery and removed two lower plugs.

60 psi bounces seem fine , aslong as they are even rythmic bounces , and then you need to release the valve to see max psi .

as for oil maybe the PO lubricated the motor with oil to keep it from seizing .
