Compression Question Please Help!!!
 
I just had my engine rebuilt by Rotary Resurrection and have had not been able to get it to run right since I put it in the car. Right after I put the engine in the car I checked the compression to make sure everything was cool. The front rotor got 90 psi on all three chambers, which I think is right, but the rear got 90 on two of them and 60 on the third one. I didn't think much of it, I just figured a side seal had to wear in a little bit. The thing barley ran at this point. So I fixed a couple of vacuum leaks, one very large one, and checked many other things and everything checked out. When I didn't know what else to do I checked the compression again just to make sure. This was yesterday, 1/25/15, and the front rotor was still good, but the rear rotor got worse. It is now 90, 75, 50. The thing idols decent but runs like absolute butthole. It is by no means drivable. My question is: Is this compression issue enough to make it run like absolute crap or do ya'll think there is probably another problem somewhere else?

I don't know Kevin personal but I will say this he been doing this for a good amount of time. Yes mistakes do happen to us all & if this is the case I'm sure he will stand behind his work. I don't agree with this route of the dressing an issue that may not be there, the best thing would be to contact Rotary Resurrection to help you troubleshoot. There a few steps to doing a compression test correctly & I'm not saying you don't know how or what your doing, but it's best to get on the phone with the company/building that you paid for a service just my .02 good luck.

The driving like butthole part might be tunning . But yeah low comp motor wont run nearly as well as a good compression motor .

Wait till the motor is hot . ( I dont know what compression tester you are using if its a rotary tester or a piston tester )

If a rotary tester says that you have such a huge different in compressions it may be time to give them a call and let rotary resurrection know whats going on .

I am probably not testing the "by the book" way. But I will say that way back when when my motor was good, it read 90 psi on all chambers the same way I am testing now. I just took the schreder (or however you spell that) valve out of a piston compression tester and pull the engine fuse and turn the engine over. Being that it moves a little fast to read all the numbers with the naked eye, I video the tester gauge with a slow mo camera so I can see where the numbers are landing exactly. If someone knows of a better or more accurate way please share, because this is the only way I know to do it.

You need to contact Kevin, not much the forum can do for you. Sounds like a stuck corner seal or an apex seal corner triangle may have popped out when the rear plate was installed. This is why we always have two people assemble each engine, one to assembly and the other to watch the seals.
