compression question
First, hello. This is my first post. :)
I'm looking at a 1985 GSL-SE that has about 180,000 miles on it. I emailed the seller asking if he'd had a compression test done, and he said he tested it and it was 9:1. I'm mostly sure that's a random compression ratio and he hasn't tested the engine at all. Shouldn't he be giving me two numbers in PSI? It's been a while since I've owned an RX-7, and I'm not a mechanic or anything, so I wanted to find out if that was a real answer. Thanks. |
Compression ratio on that engine is 9.4:1 IIRC. You should receive six readings, three per rotor. It's also important to do the test correctly---- engine warmed up, throttle open, take note of cranking rpm, etc.
