Clutch stuck
I just purchased (good deal) a 88 FC RX7 N/A Standard trans. Now its been sitting for... oh 10 years now and When i go to start this car the first time, their is a possom living in the battery compartment, and the clutch pedal is stiffer than all heck. It felt a little hard to push down,so i gave some Knee grease and it went in, made a quiet popping noise, it souded like 2-rusty-metal-surfaces-been-sitting-for-a-while pop... But the pedal didn't come back up. So I'm gonna go ahead a replace BOTH the Master and Slave... ANY tech advice? this is my first Rotary Motor and they didn't have these in school. How should i go about bleeding the Master and Slave with these and new lines as well, and What grade brake fluid should i use. and what issuese might i have with getting this apart and back together?
:celebrate "These streets we travel on, will undergo our same lost past." 88 FC/BONE STOCK with POSSOM POWER!!!! |
the pop was probably the pivot snapping inside the bellhousing, throwout is probably siezed.
but don't listen to me, i don't know shit. |

but don't listen to me, i don't know shit. He has a Possum in the battery compartment,So The Noise must have been the Armadillo in the Bell housing! ..(Got to be a Throw out bearing that went into the Pressure plate tines.) |
I went ahead and replaced the Master Cylinder and Slave, started to bleed it but i can't get a firm pedal... I no longer think its the bearing, becuase im getting some pressure. Once I took the old, rusty, stuck, slave cylinder off, the arm moved the clutch back to "engaged" postion

broken pivot ball will yield similar results, cross your fingers that the pedal does come up.

Im betting binding of the throw-up bearing. :D
Might be able to free it with liberal PB blasting through an inspection hole and prying with a long screwdriver. Try to keep it off the pressure plate and clutch disc. |
