clutch issues

clutch sems to slip when im driving and floor it then slowly catches is my clutch goin out???

ImamurA 10-28-10 07:14 PM

yeah that sounds very much like your clutch disc is worn and slipping....

Wargasm 10-30-10 03:09 PM

Yes, sounds like the disc is getting too thin so it slips.

You can probably extend the life a lot by driving the car gently (no boost) and not accelerating hard.

This can be said about more things then the clutch when it comes to these cars, too bad it's absolutely no fun at all

any idea on how much to bring it to a shop and replace?

Kentetsu 11-22-10 01:38 PM

Your 1st born son ought to just about cover it. :(

Any chance of doing the work yourself?

Whatever else you do, make sure that the flywheel is either replaced (good time for a light weight flywheel) or at least resurfaced.

+1 on the light weight

Replacing the clutch/flywheel is a PITA! I would avoid doing it if u have the $200 + (labor) to spare to have it replaced. I had one done about 3 years ago, it was 400+ including the clutch. I just replaced it myself a few weeks ago... I think I made the right choice the first time lol

When you replace it make sure you buy a good clutch. I have a friend who bought a Ebay clutch and it went out on him about 4000 miles later. So don't skip out on buying good quality, it should last a long time.
