Cleaning a Turbo(inside)

Well I got a perfect s4 turbo that I'm going to use for 10 bucks. The only catch is that it has been siting collecting dust during the year ,and it didnt have a towel or tape to cover the openings. Is there a way I can clean it out?

From what I've read you don't want to do any kind of 'partial ' cleaning of a turbo. You can take the housings off and clean them up but don't do any scraping of carbon off of the impeller wheels, you may throw them out of balance. It may be best to have it gone through professionally if you think it needs more than a quick wash up.

i've always taken the turbine housing and compressor cover off and used degreaser and carb cleaner. i usually sandblast the compressor cover too. (soak and clean well before re-installation ofcourse). works great.
