Cleaning carbon

Any thoughts on useing oven cleaner to clean the carbon off of rotors for a rebuild?

my only thought would be: why?

i've seen where people have used it to clean rotors and did okay. as a matter of fact, i think i've used it in the past (maybe in the late 90s). however, soaking the rotors in a fuel (i usually use kerosene or diesel) and then cleaning them, lightly sanding as needed, is my go-to method of choice.

1. clean them in fuel
2. wash them with detergent (soap or Simple Green) and water
3. dry them
4. oil them (this is especially important if they are going to sit for a while between cleaning and the rebuild)
