Chat about Chatter?
Hope all yalls projects are going smooth.
I was wondering at what RPM chatter due to resonating frequency occurs? also do yall think it occurs holding a lower RPM or Higher RPM? Lastly do you think it would be best to have the RPM's constantly going up and down opposed to sitting at like 3k cruising? Thanks |
Is there evidence that seal chatter happens at resonating frequencies? Seal chatter is usually caused by weak/incorrectly installed apex seal springs, carbon deposits, apex seals warping/bowing due to incorrect tuning or ignition coil failures. Sharp exhaust port edges.
The only time I'd be considered with varying RPM is during engine break in. There isn't any evidence I've seen that varying RPM on an otherwise health engine would have an impact on seal chatter due to reasonance. Carbon build up due to low RPM/lugging for a very long period of time, sure, like an automatic S1 Rx8. |

thanks for your input man, gives me something to think about. I know mazda had alot of issues with resonating frequencies when they were developing the engine. but from what your telling me it seems as "weak/incorrectly installed apex seal springs, carbon deposits, apex seals warping/bowing due to incorrect tuning or ignition coil failures" are the greater things to worry about. I haven't gotten a lot of feed back on it. so chatter due to resonating frequencies might be so minimal no one worries about it?
