Car won't warm up in cold weather

So today in Missouri it was low 40s to mid 40s and my S4 FC won't warm all the up.... The temp gage stays around 1/4 of the way up and that's as hot as it will get when it's this cool outside.... Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Or have similar problems?

1/4th to 1/3rd is the normal range.

thermostat stuck open?

turbos4? 01-28-13 08:45 AM

It has done it for a long time so I finally changed the thermostat not even a year ago and it didn't change at all:/

They must have had an S5, which has a three position temp gauge; low, medium and toast! S4's on the otherhand show precisely what the temp is.

Well one of them was an S5 but his S4 pretty much stayed right in the middle! What temp r they suppose to stay between? I might get a after market gage that shows the exact temp

S5 gauge stays in the middle range for normal temp.

Right but I mean on my S4... I would like to know the exact temp so I can install an aftermarket gage

Right... I mean for my S4... I wanna know the temp in degrees so I can install an aftermarket gage

Aftermarket gauges are made to work with their own senders. Buy as a package, install and be done.

If you are hell-bent on using the stock sensor, here's the info on the stock sensor from the FSM.

This is operating temp for me on a cool day in Washington State in my S4.

At this temp I feel perfectly comfortable driving hard, and my heater has hot air. So I wouldn't worry much if it looks like this.

What is a cool day? That's where mine sits too and my heater also blows hot air at that temp

I took that picture today, and here's the weather for today. Probably around 50 earlier in the day.

Anyway, even when it snows that's around where my temp is, and in the summer it's just slightly higher than that.

S4's temp gauges are usually 1/4 or 1/3 way up when at operating temperature like Satch had already said.
