car wont run good when its cold outside

hey, i bought a 1981 rx-7 gsl for 50 bucks and im sure ive already gotten my money's worth from it. one problem it has is during the winter its hard to get it to crank and it just doesnt run good. right now it does fine, i drive it too school, but when winter comes it going to be a pain in the but, and i may have to get my mom to take me too school. i dont know much about cars so this may be a noob question. thanks for any help.

In cold weather the early rotaries suffered some compression loss while cranking.
They use to have a glycol starting injection system to increase compression in cold weather. I also imagine you engine is old and weak. Add a multi spark ignition amplifier, and even one to two gallons of ethanol per tank helps in preventing icing in the carb while it warms up in very cold weather.

If it cranks too slow, you need a stronger battery.
