car tips!
Hey everyone,
My rx7 has been in storage for five months for the winter. I really need some tips as to what to do for the car before I start it up for the first time. I don't want to damage anything. I changed the oil already. Is there someway to prime the engine or something? Thank you for your help! wolf |
When we rebuilt my car last year before starting it we unhooked the egi and fuel fuse. We cranked the engine over until we began to see a little oil pressure, it took maybe 10-15 seconds total worth of cranking. Do that and you should be fine.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm kind of a newbie. What's an EGI? The more you could explain, the better I will be able to solve this.
Thank you for your help, wolf |
I think EGI is the factory term for the computer, if you pull the fuse the injectors will not fire (which would keep you from flooding the car when cranking it over). Hope this helps.

So you didn't start the car for 5 moths? It's better if you turn the engine by hand a few rounds first before you start cranking.

EGI means electronic gas injection. the fuse is in the little fuse box on the driver side fender.
