car didin't work for three weeks and...

I own a '94 FD...and three weeks ago i get this wierd idle problem...the rpm idles between 2300rpm and 2600rpm when in neutral and when the clutch is pressed...but when i start depressing the clutch the rpm starts going back to normal. Well i didn't want to drive it while it was like this, of course. So after three weeks of sitting in the garage i decide to take it to Rotary Power. Well this morning I turned it on after three weeks of not working and a huge dense cloud of white smoke comes out of the exhaust...and after about 30 seconds it clears. I am not really techical when it comes to rotary engines, I understand the basics how they work but I don't have experience. The car is at Rotary power right now and they will start to work on it in a few days. Can someone please explain what could cause the idle problem and what would cause all that white smoke. I would apprechiate any feedback. Thank you.

P.S. When I bought the car I took it to the Mazda service and they sead that I need a new EGR valve and that my intake mainfild gasket is leaking.
P.S. Once the car is back from Rotary Power i will make a post of my experience with them.
And sorry for my english...it's my second language

Sounds like you may have a leaky turbo (leaking either coolant or oil into the exhaust side of the turbo) or the engine is in need of a rebuild. If it was really cold outside then a little smoke is normal.

As far as the weird idle problem, that sounds a lot like a sticky neutral switch. It could be many different things, but that's the first thing that came to my mind. Also, a leaky intake manifold gasket will do that too ;)

Oh, and your english is excellent! You type it better than most natives (myself included).
