Can I rebuild with these houseing
 

Hi 8m new this is my first rebuild and I just want to know if I can reuse the houseing I have or if I have to get new ones there is a groove in all of them on the rear. This is in a 87 rx7 fc I have searched for days and I just want a answer so if anyone could help thank you

Welcome to forum. From what I can see they are useable if you lightly clean them up with a flap wheel in an electric drill at high speed

Well, I'm sure people have built out of worse. The truth is (at least for me), it's not fair to you or anyone trying to help without having the housings in front of you. The photos help, but the housings are not cleaned up enough (no offense meant), so there is even more guesswork. As long as you can understand that, then we can move forward. I guess that was sort a long-winded disclaimer. :)

That said, I haven't seen anything that jumps out at me terribly in your photos. Did the engine simply lose compression due to age or did something happen?

This is a bit disconcerting. When you say "all of them on the rear", are you referring to both the rotor housing AND the side and intermediate housings as well (essentially, the whole rear chamber)? It's really going to come down to how deep the grooves you mentioned are. Can you really catch a fingernail in the grooves? Depending on their condition, you may be able to consider resurfacing them.

I had two motors so there is four houseings. But The fourth rear houseing had a apex seal run through it so the houseing is done that's why I said all of them cuz I had almost two sets. What can I do to better clean ?? Thanks for the info

One motor was in the car. the motor in the car blow a water seal so they stopped driving the car but it was parked out side with water in it for 4 years the second motor was said to run but when pulled apart the rear apex seal blow out and caused some good damage to the rear houseing and rear plate.

Thanks for the clarification. So you have 3 rotor housings to choose from. For cleaning housings, I usually use some type of fuel (kerosene, diesel, gas, etc.) with a variety of brushes, scrubbers and cloths (including emory cloth). When the heavy dirt is off, then I will go at it with water and some sort of detergent (degreaser, soap, etc.). Final step is to dry thoroughly with compressed air, then put a light coating of oil on all the sealing surfaces or anything that will potentially rust. Keep them in driest place you can or seal them in plastic bag if you don't have a dry place.

LThank you diabolical I was talking with my teacher today and hes gonna let me put all my parts through the parts washer at school. Also REC said they will do there best to resuface what I have so as the build goes along I'll post more. But thanks for the help with the start.
