CA emissions regs, what do I need?

Hello everyone, I just bought a 94 Black Touring, and had it shipped from Virginia to California, and it isnt California smog certified. Does anyone here know what I may need to get the emissions to pass so I can get it registered? Thanks for any help.

I was in the same situation as you when i bought my turbo 2 from washington.

In order for it to be registered in california, you will need to bring it to the DMV and hanve a Rep. inspect it to make sure it meets california safety regulations. The Rep will look at all the safety equpment.. i.e. seat belts, Lights, Horn, and the sticker by the door sill. Also he will be looking at the hood for the stickers that tell you where all the emission equipment is. but i dont think he actually looked at the equipment itself...

when that is all done, go fill out your Transfer title and registation form.. Dmv will tell you to come back with a a smog certificate and your old out of state plates so they can give you new shiny california plates... :D

I'm glad I read this post. My FC is from WA as well and I'm goin' to register it CA in Dec, due to my plates expired this month. I'd register again in WA, but my FC's back home in CA.

To pass the visuals, the car pretty much has to LOOK stock, although a lot of techs will ignore minor things. To pass the sniffer, you have to have a stock or hi-flow cat and a functioning air pump. If the car is in good running order, you should pass without issue.
