broke tranny

So after replacing both engine mounts that I had seem to broke coming into third, I had to strap down the motor to gently get to work. Finally replaced the engine mounts and two days after that with "moderate" driving the tranny mount broke. SO! I strapped it down. Today being Thursday, the tranny mount coming in tomorrow on the way home I heard a tapping. More like a rapping at my chamber floor! Well it was the drive shaft nailing something so hard it broke my shifter, ripped the 2 10mm bolts that hold it into place to the tranny and part of my center console! I pulled over with it purring like a kitten because there was no movement at all. I can move the shifter around in a way I never could have before! There is no contact at all w the shifter and tranny. When I started towing the vehicle I could hear the drive shaft what it seems slamming so hard against the housing the person in the vehicle in front of me was telling me about the noise. Has anyone had this happen??? Just happened tonight. Further more does anyone know a place I can get a tranny if I somehow broke the insides from vibration having the tranny strapped down? After this I'm pretty much sure in the last 5 months I've replaced EVERYTHING BUT THE MOTOR! And just throwing it out there. If anyone is willing to donate to me free parts, thats just great too!

What car do you have? If its an N/A you can find used trans for $20. TII's you can get for around $250-300. FB's and FD's I have no clue.

I have heard of a driveshaft snapping like that, but i would be surprised if it didn't have any warning signs before it went.

An FD tranny can be had for around $400-$600.

2nd gen fc3. All bull aside. Code me all you want. I have no idea. I'm so pushed off right now I cant even type it. I'll give the first 4 "Fc3" Non turbo code I know. And get bent after that. I have this guy trying to sell me a n.a. tranny for 250. The turbo 2 mount (that I really need to know if mounts up to N.A.) for 100$???? Please give feed back. Someone that has gone through this horrible headache.... Or where I can get one...

The trans mounts for all cars are the same but that N/A trans is only a good deal if its been rebuilt and he has the papers to prove it. Oh, and the mounts for $100 is outrageous as two brand new mounts from madatrix are $30 (each). Or $22 for the stiffer versions.

Maybe you should be looking into whats wrong with your car breaking the mounts, if the car is super old thats one thing. Have you checked for any signs of an accident and lingering frame damage?

Place some want to buys in the for sale section of the forum and also in your local forum and you should be able to find better deals.

this is what happens when you try to ghetto rig the car to get to work. check the regional forums and i'm sure someone near you should have a tranny for a better price.

this is average price range for used transmissions and anyone who tells you otherwise is full of it:

FC non turbo - $75-150
FC turbo II - $125-250
FD - $200-300

lol, well thanks for the help everybody. Had to strap the tranny down knowing it the wrong thing to do just to get home. Motor mounts were 30 bucks a piece, got three. Found out my drive shaft points were rounded out. Making the car vibrate like heck finally breaking the drive shaft in two. Had it on the lift tonight. I need a drive shaft, and rear of tranny w shifter bracket up top. Other than this. I've replaced everything but the motor when this is done! It is 22yrs old. But the way I look at it is I have a new car!! And no car payment. HAH
