bridgeported ECU tuning...

Ok to start things off, I bought a car that is BELIEVED to be bridgeported. The car does run on the stock ECU but you have to hold the throttle at like 1800ish RPMs... I currently don't have the cash for a micrtech and a tune, so Im looking for a cheaper fix as I'm doing a swap in the near future. I want the car to run now as a track car. So basically I am looking into ECU chips or something like a SAFC to get it running in its current state. I'm pretty new to rotaries and trying to find out what I can do to get it running without spending ~$500.

I was told a SAFC or RTEK would work, but I would like some more info.

Thanks,
-Mike

you should state more information.

eg.

year of car :
Motor:
turbo or NA:
Motor specs such as; injectors, fuel pump, etc

the more information the better.

but either way I think your going to have to wait till ems comes in.

well, first of all, you will NEED to confirm whether or not it is, in fact, bridgeported. your next action will be based on that information.

on a sidenote, if it does turn out to be bridgeported, here's some advice ... if you're going to spend $500, then you might as well wait and get a Microtech - used or new. you're probably going to spend that or more for any band-aid you would try in order to get it running anyway.

Uh, no...

...deja vu

LOL, sharingan 19 it is indeed. The car is an 87 base, N/a, no mods other than the believed BP. As for Ted, even the gentle man at Mazworks told me you can run it on the stock ECU it will just run like absolute shit, and thats what it does. I dont plan on running a microtech, well because I dont. As for comfirming that it is ported, I dont feel like taring it apart to find out.

On a different note, what are the symptoms of a blown motor? This is my first time working on a rotary. And I really dont know the details.

I can tell you that the car ran, just have to hold the pedal down keep it at like 15-1800ish and it will run. It drove from Tampa to New Port Richey with no problems other than the high idle.

Thanks for the responses,
-Mike

EDIT** I forgot to mention that all the emissions have been removed also, note none of this hack job being done by me.

dude, you don't need to tear the motor apart to find out. just take the intake off and feel with your finger - it costs you some gaskets at most or confirms your port configuration while confirming good vacuum at the manifold interfaces at best.

so you want to run it with stock ECU, stock manifold and piggybacks? your car, your dime and i wish you the best.

Yep, I really wanna just kinda run it till it blows. I plan on swapping in another motor. And well, I wanna have fun with this one because I can :).. And forgot to mention that the car also has a cat-delete pipe with magnaflow 6" fart cans lol
