bridgeport/weber IDA problems

Hi guys, sorry if this is in th3e wrong section.

Im struggling with my 13b bridgeport motor running an IDA. It takes an age to start, but once started it idles very well and revs very freely. To get it started i must crank for a long period and pump the accelerator pedal and eventually it will start. Once running, adjusting the mixture screws one causes a drop in idle, where as the other causes an ICREASE in idle. i figured it must be an air leak but i have tried re-sealing the manifold two or three times now.

Is it possible that it is sucking through from the coolant seals?

DDo you have any other ideas?

Thanks very much in advance

Steve

Fresh rebuild? It could just be that the seals haven't seated in quite yet, making it hard to start, due to low compression. Other than that have you checked the floats in the IDA?

I Have a DCO, but mostly similar. What works for me is pumping it 4-5 times before I crank. That gets fuel in the runners and it fires right up. If that doesnt work you can try and improvise a choke by wrapping a plastic bag around the filter, that worked for me when I lives somewhere colder.

thanks guys. Yeah the floats are set right..... Surely the mixture screw thing aint right though?

Not much help over here in the UK.....

pump the gas pedal five times to the floor. then start it. cold UK weather won't be easy to start in.

get the motor up to normal temps, then set the idle mixture. be sure to set both idle mixture screws to the same mixture. ideally, when motor is warm, turn in either of the idle mixture screws 1/4 turn and it starts to stumble.

It sounds like you have one mixture screw turned out siginificantly more than the other, thus different mixtures.
