Break in period

Hey guys so i just rebuilt my first 13B and am wanting to know how long/far i have to drive before getting on boost and getting it tuned (already has a base map). I also put in a new clutch, i did search here but I've seen answers ranging from just get on it now and see what happens, to 500,600 and 1200 miles so can someone please help me find a straight answer. thanks!

if it was mine i would give it the 1,000km break in, at under 50% throttle, and under 4,000 rpm, boost should be kept low. then it needs an oil change, and a good look over before you go see much boosting.

you can, and should start tuning the idle, and low rpm/throttle parts of the map

Yep.

You can begin tuning the idle and light load immediately and it's best to do so at least crudely so you aren't hammering fuel through the engine.

If used bearings and a softer seal like the Atkins seal, I generally say drive 500KM and then consider it broken in. Keep the first few hundred KM under about 3000 - 4000 RPM and then start increasing the revs after that.

If a harder seal and new bearings, like the RA seal, then same concept but instead 1000KM. I've found for the first 600KM or so those seals really need to bed in before the engine stabilises.

New bearings, 1000KM regardless of seal.

If new bearings I also like to change the oil after the first 300KM and check the filter for debris.
