Brakes (Painting Calipers)

Hey hey,

I am planning on painting the calipers on my '90 GTU (ie. not aluminum 4 piston etc, but the meager 1 piston affair)

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had experience, and subsequent good results on cleaning and covering up the hideously rusty mechanisms.

I have been told just to attack them with a wire brush, get all the surfaces as smooth as possible and then simply paint over.

Would it be better to lay a rust inhibitor 1st coat of something, then the caliper paint? Also I must keep in mind that the rust inhibitor must be high temp tolerant.

Thanks for your suggestions. I raise a pint to you.

first wire brush the shit outta them, then spary brake cleaner on them to get all the dust and grease off. Rinse with water, then paint. Also you do not have to buy caliper paint for like mega bucks. Go to the parts store and buy high heat engine paint. I've used it on 3 cars, over 4 years and no problems
