Where did you find cheap NGKs? Go with NGK. Mazda used them as OEM and most rotarines, like myself, recommend using them over any other make.

NGKs for sure. Not worth paying more for the Boschs.

its been awhile i think i saw them on ebay, 4 for $15-20

I use the Bosch +4 Platinum on my Honda. They last longer and feel much better. I don't know any other brand that makes plugs for the RX-7 other than NGK.

never used e-bay before, so this may be a dumb question, but aren't the stuff on there used items?

Meiogirl 09-06-02 12:51 PM

goracer, im a newbie to this so you might be correct.

diabolica, sometimes 'small time' sellers will sell new things or new-discontinued items in bulk on ebay.

Bosch does make plugs for rotaries, at least they did at some point, because I have seen them, and my brother used to use them. I just don't know if they made Platinums for rotary applications. Actually there are a few companies out there that make plugs for rotary engines now (GReddy, HKS come from the top of my head), but for general street use, I'd stick with NGK.

The Bosch +4 plugs look a little like rotary plugs, but they aren't for rotaries.

it's not the Bosch +4 ... the plugs that they make for rotaries actually had 3 electrodes ... not 4. like i said, i'm not positive if they still make them, but i know that they existed as late as around 1996 because the shop where i used to buy my tune up parts still carried them then.

Go with NGKs for sure. I buy mine at Pep-Boys (if you can believe it) for $7 a piece. That's right, two trailing and two leading.

apexkw 09-12-02 01:32 PM

$7 dollars huh....maybe i better go check out pep boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the hks plugs for my friends car were way expensive. he need 6 and they wanted like $40 a plug...um cough cough NO

maxpesce 09-12-02 03:52 PM

Mazdaformance was selling OEM Mazda (made by NGK) platinums for $8 each a while back. I believe NGK and DENSO are the only people actually manufacturing plugs for WANKEL ROTARY engines - GReddy & HKS are both made by DENSO I think - BOSCH did make rotary plugs for a while. They were the OEM supplier for the NSU wankels (Prinz & RO80)

blu_gxl 09-18-02 02:48 PM

man you guys are getting ripped off on plugs i get mine for less than 5 dollars a piece!
