i have a 90 turbo ii with a street ported eng ....it has a full racing beat exhaust downpipe 3 inches all the way back ,kn intake ,.......my car is hitting 10 psi boost and spikes to 14 psi the boost curve is crazy ......my question is
1)how can i maintain boost under 10 psi without spiking? 2)if i buy any bosst controller wheter it be a home depot aka cheap mans fix or a hks ,blitz will that help me maintain boost at safe levels 3) my 90 turbo wastegate is not made to be ported by the research that i have done!unless you can tell me otherwise 40 i really dont want to buy the wolf or haltech as i dont really race my car but i dont wanna blow it up by boosting crazy ! come on help me out! |
buy an electronic boost controler. you will still get spikes with a manual b/c so get an electronic one. the best one to my knowledge is the greddy profec b. it will hold boost at whatever you set it to. manual b/c just lie to the wastegate to "cheat" you into more boost. they bleed off wastegate pressure so it takes longer to open. electronic b/c actually controls wastegate pressure. it will hold the wastegate shut until your desired boost level then let it open. it will shorten spool-up time as well.

To keep from getting boost spikes youll need to port the waste-gate
or by an aftermarket one. Although a boost controller will help, It will not rid you of the spiking problem. P.S. A 90' turbo can be ported. |
VMB,
Boost spikes are a product of lack of flow. No amount of electronics will remedy that, like Turbo FB said. You'll need to port that wastegate. Good luck, Don. |
