Bolts for flywheel to counter weight
Hi Guys
I have a new flywheel for my engine and I need to know what the best bolts would be to buy. I have a RB flywheel now and had to cut the heads of the bolts down so the clutch disc wouldn't rub on them. The flywheel is like 10+ years old now and had been machined down quite a bit. So what it is I need to replace the bolts with suitable high strength bolts. Another question is what size and thread pitch is it. I'm not sure what year the rear counter weight is from. Thanks |
why not go back to the source and check with RB?

Well I just bought a Fidanza flywheel and it doesn't say in the instructions what bolts to use other than needing the counter weight

I got mine new from malloy mazda, 2 bucks each. You can probably find your own grade 8 bolts, but it was worth 12 bucks to me to remove the guess work.

Just take one to any place that sells nuts and bolts as their main business, not Home Depot. Say, "I need 6 like this, only a little shorter" or whatever. They will ask how hard, 10.9 on the metric scale is what you want.

Best bet is go to something like a Fastenal...10.9 will do for most aplications but personally i prefer to go with 12.9 for the flywheel...price is negligable compared to a failure.
