Beadblasted Rotors!!!!Trashed?????
 

I sent a set of rotars from a 91 13B to adkins to get some machine work done, however they said that since I used a beadblaster to clean them, they do not reccomend using them anymore because I will not be able to get all of the media out of them.


Does anyone have any similar stories of suggestions??


I used regular glass bead.

It is indeed very difficult to get all the bead out of them. Lots of cycles of washing in simple green or some other cleaner, rinsing with water, then blowing out the inside with compressed air is probably your best bet. And do that like I said many times. After that it will still be a gamble, there is really no way to guarantee 100% that you got it all out of there. I wouldnt go so far as to say they are not usable, just that you need to be very careful.

i've heard of people recommending baking soda or other types of dissolvable media when blasting engine internals.

Clamp the rotor with a rubber padded clamp to an outdoor table. Then repeatedly use a degreaser and a gas powered pressure washer on it and go to town on every crevice you can find. After each time you pressure wash it, blow it out with compressed air.

It's worth a shot to try and clean it, but you have to do it very well.
