backwards timing leading more adv than trail?? how?

Ok this has me stumped. I'm timing my 12a in my 79 race car and I started by making the marks around the crank pulley. The pulley spins counter clockwise so the farther right the marks are, the more advanced the timing. I set my dist and put a light on leading plug 1 and put it to 24º bdc or adv. 24º.... then I go to check the trailing out of curiosity and its at 32º! I have checked and rechecked to make sure my wires are in the right place. My dist cap has printed marks from factory and the block has "T" & "L" marked so I can't mess that up.

This car is still new to me but could the PO have locked the timing backwards? Is that even possible? I haven't taken it out on the road to test yet but I'd rather get this right beforhand....

Any ideas? Ill go recheck everything for the 10th time to be sure....

Facing the engine it turns Clock wise, which would be correct for the timing you have stated.

When looking at an engine crank pulley direction is as viewed, not sitting in the car.
