B2600 Transmission?
 

I can't seem to find info on what challenges would arise using a B2600 transmission.

I've got a 20B that I'm thinking of running N/A and an Auto FD3S- the Auto diff is 3.9 so the closer ratios of the B2600 trans calculate out to be just about right.

What I do know:

It's an R series transmission, so it should be of similar strength to a turbo trans

It moves the shifter forward 6" or so

Some bellhousings from an RX should fit

What I don't know:

If the 20B can be moved back 6" (I know it can be moved back, but not sure how far)

What bellhousing I need- I have one that appears that it would work

If anyone has done this, any info would be greatly appreciated.

my friend did a 20B b2600, and as i remember the B2600 is like a T2 trans.

obviously the gearing is different, and its got a piston bellhousing and truck tailhousing .

in the truck, the trans is actually rotated like 15 degrees, so while the T2 bellhousing goes right on, its a little funky because the pad for the transmission mount is offset 15 degrees.

although if you're putting this transmission into an FD, you need to run the FD tailhousing for the PPF.

the gearing on the truck trans isn't great, 1st is a super granny gear, and 5th is really short, with a 20B, even NA, you have like twice the power of the B2600 truck, and the FD is lighter...

I have an automatic car and 3.9 rear diff. A few simple calculations show:

RX with 4.11 rear diff with RX turbo transmission ratios:

1: 14.27
2: 8.62
3: 5.70
4: 4.11
5: 3.12

Auto 3.9 rear diff with B2600 transmission ratios:

1: 14.55
2: 8.42
3: 5.44
4: 3.9
5: 3.18

So they're really close, as mentioned 1st is lower but not by a ton. Silly situation I'm in but there is a hill to get to my shop that is really steep and dirt, the slightly lower 1st gear would help me out...

hey off topic but if you do happen to find a b2600 trans from a 2.6l G54B can I buy the bellhousing from you? lol

Not really off topic, I may buy one so you have dibs haha

I have a b2600 and turbo II tranny side by side right now, but the input and output shafts are longer on the b2600.
I took the tail ends off, and the bellhousings, the drains are in similar locations so I'm certain the b2600 is a Type R, but the speedometer bushing will be off a couple inches due to the 2600 tranny being slightly longer only on the shaft ends.
I was told this would be an easy swap yet I find gremlins.
