Anyone have experience with painting engine parts?
 

Painting their engine peripherals such as the UIM, LIM, water pump, or alternator housings instead of polishing them? I have seen where people use duplicolor engine enamel paint for the blocks. I am wanting to do this on the parts listed above with a silver paint, something close to the look of a fresh silver powder coat. I considered getting the parts powder coated or polished but it seems like it would be easier to paint it and be able to strip and repaint when needed instead of polishing or paying to powder coat. Any opinions?

Engine enamel is a cheap, good looking way to go. You can use a clear spray over top to make it really shine. Check my album, I painted my manifolds and water pump/pump housing in silver high temp enamel.

that does look good, thats pretty much what i did. Well to test, I started out by getting some primer and semi gloss black paint. I sanded, painted and primed all the easily accessible brackets in my FD. Looks great so far, I hope it holds up which im sure it will.
