any 1 heard about revolution ball bearing twins for fd?
hi guys,
i was thinking to get these revoultion twin turbos from rhd japan.. since they are a direct replacement for the OEM turbos however they are expensive.. almost $5000 but i am still interested.... does any1 have these turbos installed? i would like to know more about these turbos and if any 1 knows ... where else i can find them .. other than rhdjapan? thanx anees |
Why not just get BNR's if you want to stay twin?
Going to be very similar to those and cost a lot less. probably better as it looks like the revolution turbos only upgrade the front turbo. theres a group buy on for them right now aswell. |
well on rhd .. it says that around 1.2 bar u can make up to 400hp.. so i really wana give these twins a try
jus wondering .. if any 1 has them on their car... and would like to share their experience |

i know .. and i dont deny that bnrs wont make that kinda power
but i really wana know more about revolution twin turbos |
why would you spend 5k when you can get bnr's for $1700 right now?
|
Coz every 1 has bnrs ...... Wana try sumthing different and jdm
|
i'd be willing to bet that revolution is having the modifications done in the states and shipping them back across to japan.
|
Are bnrs also ball bearing
|
you rather spent $3300 to be different and make the same power?

Hahahaha no offense but this is one of the gayest things I've ever seen on this site. I'm guessing you came from the Honda or Nissan 240SX game where everyone is obsessed with the JDM shit. If you'd rather spend 300% more money for the same results just to be different then do you baller, but you probably won't get any reviews on those turbos from anyone here because we're not dumb enough to spend that much when we can just go buy BNRs.
|
if the reason is "because it's JDM" then i agree. stupid reason to spend a HUGE amount of money more than a comparable product available here in the states.
If there is a measurable benefit, then fine. but otherwise.... meh. |

i know sounds kinda different but never really liked american stuff ..........especially for fd i was born driving rhd vehicles... so.. yeah and trying to keep the Jpsec look and also sticking with jdm parts |

Classy. I suppose you should go tell everyone who's bought wheels more expensive than RPF1s, a boost controller more expensive than a MBC or a bodykit more expensive than shine auto that they're dumb. He's just weighing his options, what's the point in calling it "one of the gayest things" on the forum simply because there are cheaper options?
there you go not every1 thinks same and thats y my thread says... revolution bb twin turbos and ppl who have them their reviews i dont even know where BNR's came from? |

bought my first car when i was 20 years old..... it was 1994 rhd type r fd3s and imported myself from japan |
BNR's come straight from the US.
they are highly more efficient than the stock twins, and are comparable to EVERY OTHER twin turbo upgrade whether or not they come from japan(knightsports, "revolution") for less than HALF the price of JDM counterparts, and with PROVEN reliability. In the years i spent on this board, i have never seen anyone talk about these, nor have i ever heard of this company. I have only seen a handful of people have the Knightsports twins primarily because they obtained them for a dirt cheap price. and their performance was less than or equal to BNRs. Your reasoning to be different is fine.... but also to "Be JDM" is a retarded state of mind, as well as anyone who has done this to "be different" is just a waste of money. We wouldnt have 10 second and faster hondas if everyone wanted to be different..... they followed a formula that WORKS and had been proven. Like wise there wouldnt be so many 400+hp FD's if there wasnt a formula to follow. if you want to have a different look, by all means spend $2k for a carbon JDM lip kit... but my god dont waste money on parts from JDM stuff that costs an arm and a leg to get negligible results We want you to realize that by buying BNR Stage 3 twins, you'll have the potential to make a healthy 350-400hp maintaining sequential operation, KNOWING that it all works. And having extra money left over for something JDM like a brand new set of REAL Volks/Rays wheels. for the money that your spending on these JDM twins.... you should give each poster in this thread $100. Heed our warning bro.... |
thanx a lot for the detailed info
again .. i never asked for no info on bnr's i am not denying that they are not the best turbos..... or not as efficient as revo i know lots of people who are running BNrS and making good hp number the only reason i made this thread waas to hear from sum1 who is running these turbos???? you mentioned that u never heard of revolution here is the link .. check it out pretty good stuff.. they got http://revo-tune.jp/ |
Buy them and post a review then. And when you have the exact same results, you will have the pride of knowing you could have saved a ton of money. It's fairly obvious that no-one on here has a review of them. So be the first! lol

Old thread, but I stumbled upon these the other day looking through RHD's catalog and I was curious about them as well. Right now they're $3800, and they're machined from an unused set of 1999+ Turbos. To buy a brand new set of turbos and get BNRs made would actually cost more.
I have 2 sets of BNRs on my 2 FDs, and when M2 was still in business I had a set of their Ball Bearing twin turbo set up on my track car. I'll try to dig up the Dyno Sheets to compare them, i had multiple pulls on both set ups. I can't say it's just because of the ball bearings, as the wheels were different as well ... but my M2 turbos DID make more power down low (2500-4500 RPM), and they did spool up faster, and they had a less significant jolt on the dyno sheet during transition, felt that way in the drivers seat too. I put an apex seal through them, unfortunately, and as M2 went the way of the Dinosaur I went with BNRs to replace them. M2 turbos made 378 hp and 317 ft lbs of torque on a mildly ported motor @15 PSI BNR turbos made 381 hp and 314 ft lbs of torque @ 15 psi not the same exact engine as it was rebuilt, so it had one new to me rotor and housing, everything else stayed the same including the tuner and the dyno that was used. So, everyone who said BNR's would make the same max power, you're probably right. The difference above is easily accounted for just in the variance from one rebuild to another or weather conditions etc. But I can also say, from experience, that they way they deliver feels different, and it is measurably different on a dyno as well. Part of me wants to try the ballbearing thing again to see if I get that same quick response and smooth power delivery. If i decide to sink my tax return into a set I'll post up some numbers. I wish there was some literature on these ... like wheel sizing and max flow on the compressor side :-( Revolution Ball Bearing High Flow Turbine FD3S - RHDJapan |
