AIR BLEED for cooling system...anyone?

Can anyone shed some light on what it takes to completely bleed a cooling system of all air. Im about to mount the air bleed at highest point, but how do I bleed the system once I fill the radiator? The radiator cap is the second highest point in the system, so I should be able to fill the cooling system 98% of the way leaving the other 2% air, to be bled out the air bleed. ANy recomendations from anyone who has done this? Only information I have got was to fill it up, then squeeze lower radiator hose, open bleed, let it bleed, close it off, do it again and again till its done.

Ok I have a watercooled bug with a radiator up front, so I have really long water lines, How am I gonna get the thermostat to pass water through the rest of the system? This is hard to explain, anyone got any ideas

Thanks

Dude its not as hard as your making it out to be.
Just fill her up, take off your rap cap and let the engine idle untill it slowly comes up to temp.
You should see some air bubbles comming up and out of the rad as it keeps warming up.
Once it gets to a point where the coolent is starting to come out of that neck, slap on the rad cap and you should be done.. Repeat it again if you really want after you drive the car around the block maybe and let it cool..
