Anybody living in the Socal/Garden Grove area ever heard of aerodyne and the work they do. I was at HIN two nights ago and I talked to the owner of the only FD I saw there and he said that They are very knowledgeable and built his engine. I went and saw them today and they said they would have to send my engine to japan to do a rebuild and port. If you're familiar with their work please send me some insight

I would STAY AWAY from any idiots would want to send your engine to Japan just to have it rebuilt and ported...

There is absolutely NO NEED to send an engine to Japan when there are quality engine builders here in the US.

NO NEED for it. Think about it. It would be easy for me to charge you a SUPPOSED "shipping fee" to/from Japan, and just send your engine to an engine builder here in the US.

You would be screwed a nice amount of cash.

Since you're in Anaheim, call up Racing Beat and ASK about this. See what they think. I guarantee they will ask what you are smoking.

There are posts in the West section, telling you where a local shop/engine builder is near you.

Well, In their defense the only reason why they wanted to send it to japan is because they are backed up in their work. I never intended on letting someone ship my engine out just so I could get who knows what back. I'm not familiar with the socal area but I will continue my research. ANY Suggestions?

Dont talk shit if u have never been their or know them they are some of the best people i have worked with and if u didnt know Andy the owner/head mecanic he is back in forth form here and japan every month companys like FEED (which he was a head mecanic for when he lived in japan)and other major tuners pay him to come back for a month at a time to help them out building cars, you should see the work they do its amzing (s14 with rb25 with custom V mount tuned to 500-600hp.... full tomei built sr20 in a 180 with custum v-mount....sr20 powred AE86 just to name a few) they are tuners from japan, they just do things differently, thats all. American tuners have a completely different outlook when building a car. They like to have their clients buy a rediculous amount of uneeded "BLINGY" bullshit that they could have used stock or stock/modified parts would have worked perfect....
Their more than just a rotoy shop they do everything like import used motors(RB SR 13B 2J VG just to name some ) they sell used parts from japan like coilovers, steering wheels, rims, suspension parts and interor/exterior parts. They also have in house fab work like downpipes, clutches, brake pads, master cyl stoppers suspension components. They do custom work like take your front mount IC and make it a V-mount, custom section weld IC pipes /cooling panels. Also, before I forget they are making a custom high capicity oil pan for my roommates rb26, along with doing way to much other shit to mention cause I'll make the server fail.... so if u want it they will do it!!! Also, if that wasnt enough they host gymkhana/drift events at willow springs and other tracks like every month or so and they are the only distributor for carboy magizine in the states ( its like option/hyper rev). There main shop car has been on the cover of super street (its a red FC) Andy's personal car is one of the nicest FCs i have ever seen and probably tuned better than any other, in the states. Anyways, I feel like I'm getting to involved in this.... The simple fact is that, if you want good work, a very understanding shop, very high quality mechanic and down to earth people, than give them a thought when wanting to get anything done.


PS: If a shop is backed up.... it usually means, they do good work, don't take it in a negative way....rookie....

I see this thread has struck a chord with a few people. Anyways like I said before I've never heard anything about this shop before and I just moved to this area so it's not like I can just ask some locals here what they think. This is my only way of finding out. If you guys went to HIN this year their was a FD owner named brad who refered me to them. His FD was pretty nice w/ a v-mount IC but like ted said that doesn't say anything about the work the can do rebuilding a 13b. I don't want to have my car towed to some shop that I know absolutely nothing about. But do try to limit it to what you actually know about the shop and no self promoting.

This is an actual testimonial from a local AE86 owner who had work done there and is selling his car on ebay.


"I hate aerodyne. Way overpriced and shitty work. I had to get everything redone on the car after the swap. It runs great when it runs but they suck at wiring and they should of told me they sold me a crappy ignitor and I'd of replacd it and my car would still be running. "

after hearing that of course I'm going to be weary of this place. Unless someone can give my a reason why I shouldn't.

Thanks for pointing that whole english skills thing, haha, "U" "R" the greatest man....haha Yeah, I'll take some toilet paper, thats pretty "OG" of "YA". Sorry for the quick "COMP" lingo, I just don't feel like I'm sitting here typing for an english class. So anyways, if its gonna take a long time and you don't want to wait like that, then go somewhere else and get it done. Also, if being a "JDM FANBOY" means that I like to spend my money on shit that I actually need(rather than buying shiny dumb fuckin parts that will work on the same level as my stock parts) then I guess I'm a "JDM FANBOY". You should learn that most american companies try to rape you for anything purtaining to a rotary.
