acceration problem

when i floor the gas pedal the car will rev up perfectly, but than when i let
off and try to do it again the car will just fall on its face and bog down. i have a '90 GXL

If you have the car idling and then rev the engine, it will work fine?

If you have the car idling and rev then engine and then rev it again it will fall flat on its face?

How long do you have to wait between revs so it will not stumble?

You may have to adjust the TPS. Also, while on the road if you try to do the same thing while moving will it have that problem?

yea i have similar problems with my 91 coupe....when i use the accelerator more than half way, the engine just suddenly starts losing power, so i technically can drive it around, but i have to adjust the clutch and accelerator especially in first gear because if i don't and i just step on the gas, then i start losing power and the engine stalls. basically the problem comes when i step on the gas about 2/3 or 1/2 way so i have to be gentle on the gas.
the only times when there are exceptions is when it's put into neutral and i pump the gas a couple of times, 1 in about every 5 pumps with the accelerator comes with at least a nice rev up to about 7k rpm, then either goes up all the to redline, or it starts stumbling and loses power again....this is only in neutral however, or when the clutch is not engaged and never happens in gear...any thoughts or experiences? it hurts to see a 81 ford escort burning me in the dust....

Sounds like a fuel or ignition problem. Make sure both of your coils are securely attached and that the contact points to the chassis and the coil/bracket have bare metal contact. Also, your injectors might need a good cleaning because they may be getting a little stuck and dumping too much gas in.

i've checked the coils....they seem fine...how much do cleaning injectors roughly go for? is it easy to clean by myself? i don't have much experience in mechanics but i can do some lube things....

Pulling the injectors can be a pain but if you, or someone you know, can do it they charge about $20-25 each for cleaning them. To have a shop do it I bet it would run $200+

One more thing, make sure to check your TPS and set it correctly. Check out my site for checking procedures and setting.
