87 2nd gen na crazyness help please

ok so i kinda messed up by buying an 87 fc today and i was like ehh it shouldnt be to hard to fix and here it is

on start have to hold throttle down about 1/4 to 1/2 way down to start
idle is non existent if not held at 3k for about 2 min
when idling it is shaking like a leaf and is jumpin all over the place
if you try to just slam on the throttle it wants to just die
if you hold the throttle about 1/2 and then go for full it wants to die then backfires

pulled the trailing plug off the first rotor and it was straight black (ie way rich) looked about fouled out

a couple of wires were melted together in the MAS (mass airflow senser) harness pulled apart and off the other wires. still the same...

idk where to start im thinking i should replace the MAS cause it had a garbage specter autozone airfilter rigged on the end and the guy who put it on didnt block the bottom off where there was a fat hole cause it was a circle on a square.... you know...

any info will work im tryin to get it running right soon so i can retire my fb for a lil and rebuild it pretty much patch the rust holes from P.O.s neglect and all that good stuff

thank you sidney

May be a bit late on this one... Any progress on your issues?
I would think the problem would lie in the mas. Most of the symptoms you said would be caused by that not working properly. I would also check the rest of the harness for damage.

i would start with a tuneup. then i would try to confirm/sort the MAF and it's harness. after that check for one or multiple vacuum leaks.

have you tested the tps?

Theexploited1 05-31-12 06:31 PM

fixed it was the ecu it was making the relays click had a kid from the local 7 scene come down and adjust my tps and before we did that we checked to see if there was any codes coming out there was nothing so i threw the ecu in and started her up and she perrrrrred like a kitten and he adjusted my tps and now shes a beast only 68k miles and its a 2x2 i didnt know it was "rare" but yeah that kid knows his stuff haha

i tryed 2 mas's but they only smothed out the idle a little and the harness had a minor short in it fixed now but wasnt anything important
