86 overheating fc

My car has had overheating issues(I have eliminated blown coolant seals but recently it was running just fine then the next day my fc had no heat and when it overheated it pushed all my coolant into my reservoir. Im thinking the thermostat went out but I want to make sure its nothing more serious. thanks for your time

Well if you haven't replaced the thermostat, you can try that - it's a cheap thing to try.

If it over-pressured it could be a bad radiator cap too - though it should be able to run with zero pressure and not overheat.
In any case if you had an overheat issue, i'd vote on the coolant seals. I overheated once, within a month (I think) the engine started blowing combustion gasses into the heating system - displacing the coolant - and causing my low coolant light to come on.
My fix was an air removal system, which worked excellently for over a year til I sold the car. Look at mcmaster = 4928K1 = Brass Air-Release Valve 1/8" NPT Female Inlet, 75 PSI
In stock at $25.68 Each
I placed one of those on a copper canister that had a high side inlet and low side outlet - the air floated to the top and was released by that valve into the coolant overflow tank (just in case there was a problem). But that worked to remove the air from the system and caused no other issues.
If you'd like info on such a fix (pics etc...) send me a message.
