84 rx7 12a non turbo ignition wiring
I have 84 rx7 12a non turbo I'm trying to bring to life.I want to make it a push button car since someone chopped the wiring for the ignition. If someone could give me a run down on what wires are what and how to get it going. This is what I'mlooking at for wiring. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Start by downloading the factory wiring diagram for the 1984 RX-7 from here http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/19...ingDiagram.pdf.
There are a lot of How To's on the intranet. The search function is your friend. Here's one for a first gen RX-7 https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...1st-gen-89178/ This one is from a 1988 RX-7 but you should be able to tranfer this knowledge and figure out how to do yours by digging in to the wiring diagram. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/fo...s/21217/page1/ Here's on for a Honda S2000 http://www.fd3s.net/start_button_installation.html |

So I got a cylinder and the plugs are different then the ones I have on the car could I get some guidance on how to connect them. I started by going color to color but I've got two big black black and yellow wires on the car and three black yellow on this ignition switch https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a059fef7be.jpg |
Without knowing the function of each of the wires and their corresponding colors on the non-factory switch your using, it's kind of hard for me to tell you which of the factory wires to use. I'm guessing the cylinder your trying to use did not come from a 1984/1985 RX-7.
You will need to identify which wires make connectivity for each of the functions of the cylinder your trying to use. Color to color may not work with the factory wiring. Whatever you do, don't hack the factory wiring connections so that if you need to, you can just buy a factory switch and call it a day. My suggestion is to download the wiring diagram that was suggested and make sure you know what each wire of the factory ignition is doing. Better yet, purchase a factory ignition switch. |
