84 GSL-SE Starting Problem

Have an 84 RX7 GSL-SE. It is completely stock. I had it in storage for about 5 years. It ran fine when I put it in storage. When I brought it home, I did the following:
1) changed oil/filter
2) drained gas, replaced filter & some fuel lines, purged fuel lines up to fuel rail
3) replaced or rebuilt brake rotors, pad, calipers, brake fluid
4) new plugs, wires, rotor, cap
5) had fuel injectors professionally rebuilt
6) put some marvel mystery oil in chambers and turned rotors by hand for a few weeks before trying to start

I finally tried to start it, and it cranked but wouldn't start. I gave it a shot of starter fluid and it started. It continued to run on it's own. I only let it run for about 30 seconds and shut it off. Tried to start it again and again it wouldn't start. A shot of starter fluid got it running again and I let it run on its own for about a minute. It did run a little rough when it was running. Any thoughts? Any chance it could be the marvel mystery oil needs to burn out before it will start on its own and run?

welcome to the board. :)

you probably should let it warm up to normal operating temp, then shut it down and try to restart. i've read where some people experienced flooding after shutting the engine off while it's still cold. could be that's what's happening with you.

Thanks. I intend to start it and let it run for awhile. Maybe it's getting back at me for letting it sit unloved for so long :)

You probably need to burn off all of the marvel mystery oil. As others have said it's probably good to let it run it for a bit, to do so. A warning though, after warming it up and then letting it cool down later on, your plugs will probably be fouled. This will cause problems starting and running again. So you will probably have to pull and clean them.
