4 port n/a vs TII
On the engines what is the difference besides the rotors? are the side housings all the same?
I have a TII motor and want to turn it to an n/a but I dont know if the ports are the same. Are they the same? |
I'm not exactly sure on this one, but I think that the intake ports are different than the older 13b's. Don't take my word on that though.

regardless of 4 port or 6 port, all 74-85 13B engines have the water o-rings in the rotor housing, and all 86 and up 13B's have them in the side housings. that's the first difference.
furthermore, the newer 13B's have a different intake stud/bolt pattern which makes bolting intakes meant for the older engines, functionally impossible. if you really want to build an N/A 4 port engine based on the 86+ T2 engines, then you will have to choose your intake setup very carefully (especially if working on a budget) because your choices are going to limited. the only manifold i know that will bolt to them is for Weber carbs and you can get them through Mazdatrix. |
Thanks :) So the weber carb manifold will bolt up onto the 13bt?
That was my plan all along.. To get the weber wrap around manifold and I guess That it also needs an adapter to fit up to a 13b. but mazdatrix sells all of that. But basically how the ports and how the manifolds bolt on to the engine is the same? |
no. no adapter needed for the one i'm talking about. it's the manifold for IDA (and it's derivative) carbs.
here is a picture of it. and here is the link to the site: http://www.mazdatrix.com/r-idamanifolds.htm |
i think they also have holley intakes for the 13bt's
