4 barrel starting issue

hey guys I’m new to this forum,

I’m currently building up a 1979 323 wagon with a series 1 rx7 12 bridge-port engine, and having troubles keeping her running.

I’m running (well not really) a nikki 4 barrel carburetor, and it fires up fine but within seconds it dies. now we have tried reving her up to 3-3500 rpm and inspected the fuel outlets (venturi) and there seems to be zero gas coming into the barrels and its only running on what the accelerator pump is supplying.

Any ideas? I haven’t got the air vent solenoid hook up, is this necessary or just part of the emission regulations?

Cheers in advance, Josh.

On my car, if the air vent solenoid is disconnected it will run fine until I start to get boost, then it dies, so on an n/a is shouldn't cause it not to start. Make sure the fuel pressure is right and look at the sight glasses on the floats to see if the fuel is at the right level. I'd rebuild the carb if you havn't already, make sure the floats are set right and the needles are moving freely, blow out all the passages with compressed air and pour some fuel through them to make sure there's no dirt or any plugged passages.
