2nd gen car starts, then immediately stalls out

88 NA. I just got done replacing my oil pump (pull front cover). I double labeled everything and am pretty sure I hooked everything back up right. To get it to start, I have to turn the key to "on", then off a few times (starts fuel pump for a few secs to get fuel up to engine). Then it will start and immediately dies and makes no difference if I push pedal. Seems as if nothing is saying "I need more fuel." Any suggestions where I should look first? I have another rx to compare with and I can't see a difference anywhere. I didn't touch the fuel system, but I did have to remove the air pump, alt, etc.
AFM is connected up. Timing is close (eye) but can't be confirmed because I can't start it. Jumping the fuel pump (priming yellow connector) didn't seem to do much either.

i know of a TII that has the same problem. anybody have any ideas?

I "fixed" it. I didn't have the Crank angle sensor gear properly aligned when I installed it.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. I just got done going through this same issue (took me a lot longer to figure out what it was though) after doing an S4 S5 Tii conversion. Indexed the CAS and it's running pretty good now.

this is what i was going to say. a faulty conection in the AFM will cause this to happen. sometimes you have to open it up to check the electrical inside of it. but your perticualr problem must not have been this.
