2mm or 3mm

I rebuilding my motor and before I finish I wanted to get some opions about using 2mm or 3mm seals. I looking to have around 450-500 whp I have everything else to support it. I just wondering if I should use the 3mm seals or not.

as long as they are within spec, use whichever rotors you already have.

iceblue 12-19-06 11:44 PM

86+ 2mm OEM no exceptions.

Well I keep reading on how the 2mm seal better and can handle alot of hp. But then the 3mm is suppose to be stronger. Which seal will be better if the car is going to be driven hard

Dosen't matter what seal you use just get a very good tune.

Stronger maters nothing, some knocking will kill them all. It’s pointless and moot to argue a larger seal is stronger that has more leak down and wear.

yeah iceblue and 13btnos are right on the money. tuned right u can get about 450hp-500hp and have it last about 60,000 mile maintained right. Its a ballpark guess but please correct me if I'm wrong don't wanna steer him in wrong direction!!!!!

Yea sounds like I'm going to go with the 2mm seals. Everywhere I keep reading it seems like the 2mm are better

Yeah man 2mm seal alot better too for example Ken scheeper ran 2mm at 50 Pounds of boost check out his site.

3mm oem...NRS ceramics if you can afford them. Make sure the 3mm rotor cut is perfect.

RotorHead87 01-02-07 06:44 AM

I heard 3mm seals can tolerate more higher boost, but in the long run they'll eat up the rotor housings alittle quicker. Anyways I just got my 13B-RE totally rebuilt with a large streetport, port matched manifolds, and a Garrett T04S with 2mm seals. I hoping I should be in the 350-400+ WHP neightborhood. Good Luck with the 7!
