2 stage rev limiter
 
What is the best way to go for a 2 stage rev limiter while running Haltech E6K with stock ignition on an S4 turbo engine.. I'd like to go with ignition retard/cut setup so I can leave the line at desired RPM with my foot down and then just use my heltech rev limiter normally..Any advice?? Thanks..

im not sure actually im throwen out a guess would a msd 6AL work? it has a rev limiter in the L series maybe that would work with the haltech..

Tow methods both involves using MSD 6AL's.
First off don't use the two step on the Haltech E6K/X. It's just a hard ignition cut and you'll send your turbine wheel out the tailpipe eventually. :)
The MSD's use a soft ignition cut.

First method is the more expensive and easier method.
You'll need three MSD 6AL's and three MSD Two Step Modules.
PS. whatever RPM chips you use for the Trailing 6AL's/Two Step Modules must be half the rpm of the leading. For example if you want to set the two-step at 7000 rpm then you use a 7k chip in the leading module and 3.5k in each trailing module.

Second Method.
Use only one MSD 6AL and Two Step module on the leading ignition. You'll need to shut down the trailings when you engage the two step. That can be done by using relays to turn the power off to the trailing coils once the two step is activated.

With the two step I was able to generate between 15 to 25psi of boost depending on rpm.

First of all thanks for your advise..I was hoping there was a less complicated alternative then this.. I have grown accustomed to launching with a 2 stage in my evo using a modded factory ECU but it does not look like it will be that easy for the mazda..I may look into method number two..Thanks again.

Hi... good work by everyone

Is there any other brand making two step modules ?

if there is an HKS one please tell me the part number or model number so I can serch it on the net. (I have the HKS Twin Rotary)
