1st, 2nd,3rd GEN Weight Question.

So yeah im new at this (rotary) and im trying to figure out a light configuration. What are the weight specs for these years in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen. Obviously rotary only.

As a rough estimation:

First gen: about 2300-2500 lbs. depending on year and trim
Second gen: about 2700-3100 lbs. depending on year and trim
Third gen: about 2800 lbs.

Holy 3100 for a 2nd gen seems high... i spose a fully optioned vert would be around there

Thanks for your reply. My rotary head cousins are straying me away from the 2nd gen because of the weight but I cant afford a third and I hate the look of the first gen.

options..... oh the options..

How can you not love the sexy, classic lines of the first gen? :) J/K.

What kind of car are you looking for? Turbo IIs are powerful and buildable, but are more expensive and heavier. And turbo rotaries are very expensive to own, as well, and require more attention.

If you're just looking for a lightweight second gen, I'd try to find a '86 GXL, since that's the lightest FC that had all the goodies (like LSD, 4-piston front brake calipers and vented rear discs, etc.). It should be pretty fun, and a good exhaust and such will add some nice power, and it'll run forever if taken care of.

my next car will be a first gen... :)

already own 2 fc... feel they are a bit heavy, might try the fb for the fun.
