1988 fc auto rx7
 

Hello everyone I really need help with my rx7 is a 1988 auto and I have a issue when I start the car it will idle to 2000 and then it wants to shut off so in order to keep it on I have to step on gas and idle it to 2000 rpm also after it stays on it's self when I try to move it if I put it in drive it will shut off and after that I have a hard time trying to turn on like it was flooded etc. I have changed fuel filter fuel pump spark plugs and ecu need help thank you

Check the throttle cable as it should have slack in it.

Check the timing.

When idling, press upward on the front throttle linkage to tell if the throttle plates are open too much or if they are properly set. If the pressing of the linkage in an upward manner reduces the rpm then you know something is up.

Check for vacuum leaks.

How do I check timing and also I have changed throttle sensor. But also when u turn the wheel all the way to the left it will shut off

A TPS needs to be set as they do not set themselves (S4). It has a Green/Red wire. W/key to on it should measure 1 volt. You measure the voltage after the car has been warmed up completely (20 minutes of drive time or 30 minutes or so of idling will sufficiently warm up the car).

Use the advanced search function and do a search for timing and you will get text, including pics of how to do this.

Ok thank u I'll post it up when I try the stuff u told me. But also I had the main cat switched to a manga flow cat and that's when I started to have all the problems I feel like it was installed backwards cause the sensor was put on the drive side

When did you change the TPS relative to the converrter?
