it's true dual, but a single side exit

It's actually not a true dual. It is a collected long primary system but is my personal favorite exhaust for that car. When I had my GSL-SE, that exhaust made more power than any other style I had tried on it.

o ok ic but is there one that i can put 1f muffler per rotor? like a true dual exhaust

rxtasy3 11-18-10 12:50 PM

so ur wanting to have dual exit like the fc? u can put a muffler on each rotor, running two separate pipes all the way and over the axle. u'd have to use those small oval shaped mufflers standing up vertically side by side, exiting on the one side. it would be so loud, not to mention sound very tinny(think bees inside a tin can). brings back memory of a friend way back had BNA CAN as his license plate.

i was told that increases hoursepower... but is it legal in california?

rxtasy3 11-19-10 12:04 PM

on stock porting maybe not so much.

shomoser12 11-20-10 01:32 AM

ic... can you explain what porting is.. please or point me to the right direction thx and if u do porting.. can ur car still pass the smog check?

rxtasy3 11-21-10 05:39 PM

porting is what's done to the intake and exhaust ports to make them larger for making more power. there's basically 3 types of porting over stock: street port(sp), bridge port(bp), and peripheral port(pp). and then different variations of each. searching any of those terms will yield plenty of reading. and no worries about passing emissions here in the south. and i think anything that has to do with increasing power is for race use only and illegal for street use in cali. at least some of the stuff RB sells claim to be "not for street use in california." but ppl still do it.

thx ill look into this and how to make it kinda hard to get another intake for the car tho i might have to make it my self thank you

A true dual exhaust can absolutely increase power on a stock ported engine. It's pretty hard not to increase power over the stock exhaust system. The "long primary" which is what the Racing Beat "street port" exhaust system is, gives a very nice power increase over stock and more than I had ever seen in any other exhaust system when I had a first gen. Yes you can do a true dual. You could use their system and then just substitute the rear muffler for a pair of them as that exhaust system collects on the muffler. The pipes themselves stay completely separate all the way to the muffler pipe itself.

Whether or not it is loud has everything to do with the mufflers used and little to do with the exhaust configuration. While configuration does play some role, most people use crap mufflers such as corksport, etc. If you are going to try a true dual exhaust, you absolutely positively do not under any circumstances want a round straight through mufflers. The sound will be unbearable and quite bad.

On your car it would be best to just stick to the long primary system rather than go true dual. As with any exhaust system there are compromises to each system and I found that the long primary had the fewest of them. It has a very nice very wide powerband. Must more than just a header would.

thank you for your info, if i change the the whole system it will sound better right? i have this kinda old sound coming from like the middle or front of the car. im thinking its the headers or cat that is to old, you know that sound that old pick-ups make? im thinking its the exhaust system right?

sounds like you might have an exhaust leak. i'm not saying not to get an exhaust system if you want one, but if the sound is your motivation, then you might just need new gaskets.

shomoser12 11-24-10 07:49 PM

ok so i fixed that leak now it sounds awsome but as we was fixing that and the car was on we fond out that before the cat etc the metal was hot red dude told me it was running rich that it can kill my cat like that... so im just gonna spit this one out there hope some luck, dude told me it might be the spark plugs any tips?
