13bT custom swap?

Ok I plan on doing a custom swap I found a somewhat affordable 13bt with little to no compression on rear rotor I have yet to hit the books and manuals so I am looking for a little insight I see the big expensive rebuild kits for 1200 + dollars so do you really need all those parts in a rebuild can you safly get by with just doing what is needed like I would guess seals and possibly the rear housing.
Please let me know
Thanks,
John

well, the first motor i built started out as one with just the rear rotor gone ... so i put it together, and the rear was fine. the motor had power up to about 6000 RPM then it would fall flat on its face. i later confirmed that it was because i had used the stuff from the front, because it was "good".

you can get by if you measure all the tolerances/clearances - whatever - and they turn out to be within specs. the first thing you need to do is pull the motor apart and assess what you can SEE you will need.

for example, you said that you guess it will need seals and possibly a rear housing. well, that can easily turn into 3 housings, depending on how that rotor blew up.

bottomline ... i WON'T tell you to get the whole kit, but it might save you some trouble down the road. but the most important thing right now, before you actually BUY anything, is finding out what you will need.

hope this helps
