13BRE intake to 13BREW iron

i imagine the info is somewhere in this section but i couldn't come up w it.

i am building a motor for a customer that is a 13BREW.

he wants to use a 13BRE intake. i have a 13BRE intake gasket and will have the manifold shortly. looking just at the gasket, it appears there is a lot of metal on the south quarter that would need to be removed on the secondaries. the mid iron is a BRE so it does have the primaries that match the gasket.

i would greatly appreciate someone getting me up to speed on how to deal w the secondary BREW ports.

thanks,

howard

Port to match the gasket, thats what i did. Also the port hole on the gasket is bigger than the port on the manifold, i took around 3/16 to 1/4 on the south side.

thank Luis/Black Mamba,

just to put a period on it, i finished opening the FD irons to BRE with no problems... i took almost 1/2 inch out of the floor and was able to blend to the runner.

tomorrow i do the manifold.

any pics? I would like to do this one day

i did this….took a lot of time, and a lot of porting, measuring, porting, remeasuring, assembling etc etc etc until it all matched. i went this route since i had never done this before but it worked out really well. i am using all REW irons to a BRE manifold.

Wow, almost 1/2", well I guess it's right because my plates were all ready ported when I did the gasket matching to the RE so maybe that's why I only took 1/4" the most.

Howard can you measure the other edge of the ports and compare to the measurements I sent you, also if you have a stock port to see the difference between the stock REW port and a gasket match RE port.

Thanks
Luis

Also to anyone else tha t is looking to do this, you should also port the LIM to match the gasket.

Great information, I've always figured it was just a port match but never expected a full 1/2" of material difference.

Do the REW & RE UIM's have the same gasket/bolting pattern? For instance, could you use a GZ LIM with a RE UIM and port match the GZ LIM to the RE LIM gasket?

FWIW, i am doing this on a build for a customer. it is at his request. the REW is going in an FC.

The only thing that the REW and RE share in common is the LIM to Block bolting pattern. The upper RE LIM flange has different bolt pattern than the REW.

There are few other things that have to be done to swap RE intakes to a REW block on a FD.
