13B swap '82 Cressida. Modified oil pan
3 Attachment(s)
Hello
So i put an S5 NA into my mx62 Cressida. The engine sits very far forward and the shifter is 4" too short of the shift hole in the chassis. I could lengthen the shift housing and rod , but would like to just put the engine back further. The problem is that it hits the oil pan. So I cut it. I know there will be less oil capacity, not sure if it will affect anything. I will be welding in a nee bung for the oil drain plug as well. Rotary evolution i know you would have some solid advice. |
I was considering using the FC engine mount locations and making some adapters to mount the engine in the original engine mount locations on the subframe.
I do have a 12A oil pan (i think) and the 1A front cover with rhe brace. Then I could weld mounts to the chassis and bolt it in that way This is all crazy because the Cosmo engine i might use in this car has an REW rear thick plate. I still think the front cover mount is best |

Pans. The 12A seems to be the correct length but the bolt holes are off

Get a GSL-SE pan. Correct length and shape. Must use a 1st gen front cover with it. Holes will line up correctly.

Awesome. I did read that. I can't find a used one and new is about $100 so for now I just put the 12a one on.
With rhe 12a pan halfway bolted on I was able to place he engine 6 inches back. Now the shifter location is perfect and the rear iron is only 8 inches from the firewall. |
