now i want to do this as a serious project. right now im pursuing some carbon fiber doors and fuel doors that im doing for my car (with my previous cfiber experience) and after this project, the mtx swap should be done by then and even boosting the engine with maybe a 1.9L toda stroker kit (i have the 4cyl) but i kinda rethought maybe doing a 13b from a 2nd gen rx-7 into the mx-3 instead of the toda 1.9L stroker kit and boosted engine. i also thought 20b since it was going to be a custom swap anyway but wouldn't have the experience/tech support with a 20b.

i have access to HUNDREDS of 2nd gen rx-7s here so parts wont be a problem. im posting to do some early research for this project. so far, im sure i'll need the motor and all the harnesses for battery and engine. im guessing that the transmission will have problems fitting because i may have to modify the firewall/interior? im probably going to use the 2nd gen cluster and modify the dash to fit it with maybe a fiberglass pod or cfiber pod, so accuracy for the cluster shouldn't be a problem in theory with the 13b and harness properly setup. im guessing ill have to use custom motor mounts and the entire drivetrain. for sure ill need to modify the rear suspension and maybe use the suspension off of the 2nd gen and modify it to fit the mx-3 chassis. what other custom work would be involved.. custom driveshaft because of the length of the car might have differences? my main concern is hooking the rear suspension to the chassis and getting the drivetrain to fit properly to the motor. will i have to modify the floorpan to fit the driveshaft in there so its not sagging under the car?

yes i expect this project to go on for a few years if i decide to pursue it and the car is not a daily driver anymore. i know the funds will cost in the thousands. but there is no price to seeing a 13b rotary mx-3 on the streets.. dont you guys agree. oh and i know plenty about the mx-3 if you guys have any questions. ive searched this forum and you guys seem to have a lot of questions about the mx-3.

oh and i know i can swap in the 200hp kl-ze (which is hard to swap from 4cyl to 6cyl) or even the bpt motor which can take 300hp on the stock block if tuned... but 13b bragging rights and a rwd mx-3 is what im aiming for. i plan to use this car for a few auto-x and if the slight chance that this car gets noticed, thats even better.

Ambitious project, i have no advice, so good luck!
