13B Rotary 1984-85 RX7 GSL-SE

HI i just joined,
and i have a blown rotary my engine is a 13B. My car is a 1985 RX7 GSL-SE and i was wondering is there a place i can buy rotary engines or rebuilt engines? on the internet or should i just have the mazda dealer fix it. But i dont want to pay $5000 for them to do it if the engine doesnt cost that much cause i can put it in myself

http://rotaryresurrection.com/ for low budget rebuilds

if you feel up to undertaking the rebuild for yourself, i'm sure you'll get a lot of support on this board. i can speak for myself that i'll help you as much as i am able. :)

check out the archives of this section, there is a good start on some useful rebuild info. also ... you may want to check out www.nopistons.com there is great rebuild support there as well.

oh ... and welcome to the board. :)

how hard is it to rebuild the engine myself ?
can you give a general idea of what tools i will need...

thanks for taking time to go over this with me

well ... "hard" is a relative term, so i'll say this. if you have patience and can follow directions pretty well. it won't be hard at all ... time-consuming, maybe, but not hard.

as long as you have a quality wrech and ratchet/socket set (metric), you have most of what you need. special tools are: torque wrench, something to lock the flywheel, something to pull the 52 mm flywheel nut, and something that can twist 300 ft-lbs "ON" and "OFF".

a good place to look for information about ur car is the first gen section. There are very knowlegable people on this forum, along with bunches of crap. For the most part this is a great way to learn about ur car :)
