13B-RE twin turbo question

Ok im doing a swap in a 85 RX-7 12A Are the twin turbos ECU controlled or what? Im gonna be running a Haltech Ek6.. This is basically the only question I have left...Im looking for a cost effective solution to ~300 hp...

Try posting this is the 3rd gen forum and you will probably get more responses. Also, the twin tubo engine is the 13B-REW. The 13B-RE is just the regular NA 13B rotary.

Why would you want to keep the twin turbos when you swap the engine in? Less reliable, much hard to do the swap, less power, more weight, etc.

Im gonna go with a Cosmo engine, 13RE. The REW is 2600 and the RE is 1800. Well I dont really know the classification with the letters, but usually W stands for twin , so I guess your right. Its just the motor says 13RE twin seq. turbo right on it ... Its on FC3s.org :)

Im eventually gonna go with a single aftermarket, but after the expense of the motor, fuel pump/lines, FMIC, ECU and manual flywheel etc, not to mention custom intercooler pipes, custom exhaust. I will be very limited to get it done, if the stock twins will work, Im gonna use them until I getthe money for a bigger turbo. I just was curious if they would work :)

Heres the motor in question :)

Don't listen to 'im... the 13B-RE was the twin turbo Cosmo engine, came out a little before the 13B-REW was made for the FD.

I do agree that you'd be better off just going with a single... the idler arm (or steering box if RHD) really gets in the way, and I'd imagine that's not the only thing that would interfere...

Thanks Peejay, again, you always got good answers for me. I guess the project will get a little delayed. I wanna assemble the stuff before dropping it, if possible. I like to troubleshoot outside of the engine bay, its much easier to while its on the stand :) Just after the orginal 4k or so im gonna spend I really didnt want to get up another $1k to finish it, but guess I'll have to :)

By the way heres a website on the non seq conversion, I think its for REW tho..

The engine you have has slightly larger ports than the 13B-REW, but the turbos that went on it didn't flow as well as the 13B-REW so it made less HP. You could convert to non-seq operation and use the Haltech. It is much easier to tune a non-seq turbo setup. I have done the conversion to my manifolds for the turbos. If I knew that the manifolds were exactly the same I would work out a trade with you for the seq setup. I have been looking for a stock setup to put back on the car to sell it.
